The Creative Educator Podcast: New Series from Adobe

What does it mean to be a creative educator? The concept of creativity is one I’ve covered often on the blog. You might remember conversations with educators like Claudio Zavala, Jr. and Rebecca Hare, and posts that include activities for student summer projects and how to make your instructional videos. I think one of the best ways to unpack this question is to listen to stories about creativity.

There is a new resource for educators I’m excited to share with you today! And it comes from one of my favorite sources — Adobe Education.

Regular readers of the blog might know about the book Ben Forta, and I wrote full of creative activity ideas featuring Spark tools. And you might know that I’m a big fan of podcasts, too. Well, the team at Adobe Education has a new podcast all about being a creative educator.

Let’s dive into the details together!

The Creative Educator Podcast

I love using podcasts to learn while on the move. So you can imagine I was excited when I came across The Creative Educator podcast. Hosted by Adobe Education’s Tacy Trowbridge, each of the first three episodes features interviews on creativity and education. These episodes include big ideas and actionable information. The first episode features a conversation with Richard Culatta, CEO of the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE).

Each episode has a summary, extra resources, and a full transcript on the show landing page. Like many podcasts, you can listen to each episode on your favorite podcast app. It’s available on Google Podcasts, Apple Podcasts, and Spotify, or you can play straight from the web on the show notes page. I’ve also added embed codes for the first three episodes so you can press play right on this page as well.

The second episode has a higher-education focus. You’ll hear a conversation with Jeff Selingo, New York Times bestselling author, journalist, and education thought leader. And the third episode of The Creative Educator podcast includes a conversation with Rebecca Hare. Rebecca joined me on the Easy EdTech Podcast last year to unpack the idea of creativity in the classroom. In this interview with Tacy Trowbridge, Rebecca shares information about how learning spaces enhance student learning and promote creativity.

Professional Learning on the Go

When do you listen to podcasts? I often listen to podcasts when I’m on the move. I love having a podcast playing in the background on a long (or short) drive, or even when folding laundry or emptying the dishwasher. To make the most of my podcast-listening experience, one thing I try to remember when listening to a podcast is that it is okay to press pause.

I often press pause and open up a note-taking app like Google Keep to jot down an idea. Although sometimes this takes more of a brainstorming spin, other times, I’ll attach an action item. This action item could include a due date on my calendar or a reminder to check back on the idea. In episode 92 of my Easy EdTech Podcast, I talked about figuring out your favorite way to learn new things. This combination of jotting down a few notes after hitting pause while listening to a podcast episode is one of my favorite ways to learn.

You might sit back and listen, take some notes, or set up a time to debrief with a colleague after you both listen to a new episode of The Creative Educator podcast. Make sure to subscribe to this new podcast on your favorite app, and check out all of the show notes on this special landing page!
